Antennas and Propagation for Modern RF and Microwave Communications
7th November @ 9:30 am - 8th November @ 4:30 pm
This 2-day technical course covers a range of antenna types found in modern RF, wireless and microwave communications systems. The course begins by defining key antenna parameters such as directivity, gain and efficiency etc. followed by basic transmission line theory and antenna matching techniques. Individual antennas types are then reviewed, including key physical characteristics and electrical performance parameters.
Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on practical applications, supported by many photographs and case studies. The course also provides an overview of electromagnetic propagation from a practical perspective, avoiding complex mathematics that can often overwhelm the subject.
The course concludes with a review and discussion of the Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work Regulations 2016, including risk assessment and RF radiation exposure and absorption limits. Throughout the course, there will be plenty of opportunities to ask the instructor questions to help clarify understanding.
