Course Overview

This 2-day technical course provides an understanding of the technologies, vocabulary and techniques used in HBRMT (High BitRate Media Transport) in a broadcast environment. The course is delivered in partnership with leading test and measurement equipment manufacturer Rohde & Schwarz at their UK office in Fleet.

The course covers key standards and implementation of both the media and network. Throughout the course, there will be plenty of opportunities to ask the expert instructor questions to help clarify understanding.

  • Describe the key functionality of an HBRMT networked system

  • Describe networking and internetworking processes and protocols

  • Understand the multicast Ethernet and IP processes

  • Understand the requirement for and use of RTP (Real-time Transport Protocol)

  • Understand the relationship of the AES-67, TR-03/04, ST2022 and ST2110 standards

  • Understand the issues of transporting HBRMT signals over networks

  • Understand PTP (Precision Time Protocol) and RTP synchronisation

This is a technical course and an ability to assimilate and understand general technical concepts is essential. A knowledge of UHD/HD/SDI broadcast video and IP and Ethernet networking is assumed. Rohde & Schwarz UK is a 15 minute walk from the railway station or a short taxi ride.

Travel by Air
Heathrow airport is 26 miles (42 km) and Gatwick airport is 48 miles (77 km) from Rohde & Schwarz UK. If you are travelling by air, then we can reserve a taxi for you. The driver will meet you at arrivals and transfer you either to your hotel or directly to the course venue. A cancellation fee of 20% will apply for cancellations received 7-14 days before the start of a course. Cancellations received less than 7 days before are not refundable. Substitute delegates can be made any time before a course starts.

Registration Confirmation

Upon registering for a course online, confirmation will be emailed immediately followed by the Course Joining Instructions and an invoice/receipt within 1 working day. We strongly recommend that you do not make any firm travel and/or accommodation commitments until you receive final confirmation that the course will definitely go ahead. This is sent as soon as the minimum number of attendees has been reached to make the course viable and no later than 1 week before the scheduled course start date.
