TCP/IP and Networking Essentials for Engineers

    This 2-day technical course covers the essentials of networking, Ethernet and Internet Protocol (IP) technologies as well as providing practical hands-on experience in network diagnostics. It is ideal for engineers and technicians that need to configure, maintain or troubleshoot common networked equipment used in RF test and measurement and TV and broadcast applications. Throughout the course, there will be plenty of opportunities to ask the instructor questions to help clarify understanding.

    The course is aimed at engineers and technicians that need to configure, maintain or troubleshoot common networked equipment used in RF test and measurement or TV and broadcast applications. Typical attendees include engineers and technicians, product engineers, applications engineers and broadcast engineers working with networked equipment.


    This is a technical course and familiarity with technical concepts and an understanding of binary arithmetic is assumed although prior knowledge of networking is not necessary. Due to the practical hands-on sessions, attendees should bring a laptop to the course.     Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
    • Describe the key functionality of a networked system
    • Describe the physical processes of an Ethernet system
    • Describe networking and internetworking processes and protocols
    • Understand the use of Ethernet and IP diagnostic commands and tools
    • Understand the unicast, multicast and broadcast IP processes
    • Describe the creation of networks and subnetworks
    • Understand the use and function of firewalls
    • Understand the use of Ethernet and IP diagnostic commands and tools
    • Create IPTV multicasts

Therefore, if you attend a scheduled course and conclude by lunch time of the first day that the course is unsuitable, then simply notify the course instructor and we will arrange to refund 100% of the course fee.     A cancellation fee of 20% will apply for cancellations received 7-14 days before the start of a course. Cancellations received less than 7 days before are not refundable. Substitute delegates can be made any time before a course starts.


    Upon registering for a course, confirmation will be emailed immediately followed by the Course Joining Instructions and a VAT Invoice within 1 working day. We strongly recommend that you do not make any firm travel and/or accommodation commitments until you receive final confirmation that the course will definitely go ahead. This is sent as soon as the minimum number of attendees has been reached to make the course viable and no later than 1 week before the scheduled course start date.
