Modern RF and Wireless Transceivers – Architectures, Impairments and Measurements
This new 2-day technical course describes and discusses the latest digital RF and wireless transceivers, including recent direct digitising architectures using high-speed data converters. Topics covered include RF transceiver system components, analogue-to-digital converter (ADC) and digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) basics, RF transceiver architecture selection, performance impairments and design trade-offs and a review of RF transmitter and receiver performance measurements.
• RF transceiver system components
• Understanding sampling, aliasing and Nyquist
• ADC basic principles and specifications
• ADCs for RF applications
• DAC basic principles and specifications
• DACs for RF applications
• Transceiver architectures and trade-offs
• Single, double and direct conversion architectures
• Direct digitising transmitter and receiver architectures
• Transmitter and receiver impairments
• Transceiver trade-offs between performance and complexity/cost
• Frequency planning and blocking mechanisms
• System planning to minimise noise and distortion
• Transmitter modulation measurements – AM/AM, AM/PM, ACPR etc.
• Receiver modulation measurements – BER, sensitivity, spurious etc.
A detailed list of topics is available on request. Either email firstname.lastname@example.org or call our office on +44 (0)1962 920 123.
The course is aimed at engineers working in the RF, wireless and microwave communications industry and designing, developing or providing applications support for the latest RF and wireless transceivers using high-speed data converters. This includes RF engineers, wireless engineers, hardware engineers and software engineers working on RF transceiver systems. Technical managers needing to understand the issues surrounding modern RF transceivers would also benefit from the course.
This is a technical course and the ability to assimilate and understand technical concepts is essential. A technical background is desirable in order to derive maximum benefit from the course. Participants would normally be qualified to degree level or have equivalent experience in an engineering, physics or mathematics-related subject. If you are unsure about the technical level of the course then please either email us at email@example.com or contact our office on +44 (0)1962 920 123.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
• Define the basic building blocks of RF transceiver systems
