Practical DVB-T Measurements
Course Overview
This 1-day technical course focuses on the effects of channel imperfections on received DVB-T signals and discusses the expected ability of DVB receivers to cope with those effects. It also provides practical training on receiver performance measurement in the presence of imperfect RF signals.

Who Will Benefit?
The course is aimed at electronic and software engineers who are working with digital TV receiver design and need to know what performance is required and how to measure it. Although the course relates directly to the RF aspects of digital TV system design, it provides important understanding for engineers and technical managers working in any area of TV development.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Understand the impact of noise, reflections and other transmissions on received DVB-T signals
  • Understand the DVB-T receiver performance requirements currently specified by authorities
  • Outline likely future trends in performance specifications
  • Measure the performance of receivers using the latest test equipment
Business Benefits
The course will deliver the following business benefits:
  • Improved system understanding of design and development team members
  • Improved test and measurement efficiency
  • Reduced test and measurement times and costs
  • Reduced risk of expensive test equipment damage, downtime and repair costs
  • Better utilisation of test equipment features and functionality
  • Properly tested DVB-T receiver designs are more likely to meet RF performance targets
  • Opportunity to utilise the extensive expertise of the instructor, with over 30 years of experience
Course Programme
The course content covers:
  • Review of the DVB-T signal
  • Expected DVB-T signal impediments
  • Expected DVB-T receiver performance
  • How to measure DVB-T receiver performance

Customisation
For on-site courses, we do not force your organisation to adopt a standard, ‘one-size-fits-all’ training programme. The standard course programme can be adapted both in content and duration according to your exact requirements and specifications. Our technical experts will assist you in identifying these, even if they are uncertain or unclear. The course programme is then fitted to your exact requirements. Please call us
on +44(0)1962 855 730 to discuss your requirements in more detail.

Related Courses
This course forms an ideal follow-on from the Introduction to Digital TV Coding and Modulation course (DVB1), which introduces digital TV coding and modulation techniques.
